Washing dishes is not only a Zen exercise, but you get the dishes clean too”

– Robert Allen

This quote makes me smile.

It reminds me of what a yoga teacher once said to me . . .

I was 16 and making excuses on why I didn’t have time to practice yoga on a daily bases.  He just looked at me and said “you do dishes, don’t you?” . . . I answered yes . . . a bit puzzled . . . “then you can practice yoga while you do the dishes” he smiled.

It seems I didn’t really grasp what practicing yoga was really about until that moment – whether I am walking, driving, or doing the dishes . . . there is always time to live in the present moment.
